How to Get the Most From Your Session
1. Wear Loose Fitting or Athletic Clothing
Because most of my sessions involve work both on and off the table, most of my clients remain fully or mostly clothed during the entirety of the session. To best facilitate this, I recommend wearing athletic clothing, preferably that fits loosely so that it can be partially rolled up for massage techniques that work best on bare skin. For those who are having work done on their knees or hips I recommend loose shorts, and for those having work on their shoulders or neck I recommend a tank top.
2. Drink Plenty of Water After Your Session
The action of moving the body tissues and relaxing them causing toxins to enter the system. This isn't a bad thing, but it does mean that it is a really go idea to make sure that you are well hydrated before and especially after the session to help flush everything out. If you notice that you are especially sore after a session or feel almost crummy, it could be the result of not having flushed your body properly. That being said, if you do have negative results from a session, please don't hesitate to reach out to me so that I can see if I have any suggestions on how to help you feel better quickly.
3. Establish Goals
If you are in pain or suffering from a mobility issue, one of the best ways that you can get the most from my therapy is to establish goals for yourself and share them with me. This helps me know what exercises to recommend for you, and what to focus on during our massage and treatment. Although I do my best to ask you what your goals are, don't be afraid to tell me. And if you are wanting to make some changes in your life, establishing goals is the first best step towards living and feeling better!
4. Take Care of Your Body
As much as my sessions can help you on your way to feeling better, a great well to help your wellness journey along is by taking care of your body. Many of us are busy, and it can be hard to find the time to eat well, get enough sleep, exercise, and take the time to relax and de-stress. I can assure you from my experience and from the stories I hear from my clients, that taking the time to invest in your body and your well being is integral to healing and living life at your fullest. I can help you feel better, and go a long ways towards recovery, but your body will never be in the shape it could be if you do not take care of it.
